MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Golden Gophers became bowl-game eligible and defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the first time since 1960 today with a final score of 34-23.

Philip Nelson finished the game with three touchdowns for the Gophers, running two in and passing for another. Nelson finished 7/15 passing for 152 yards.

David Cobb ran for 138 yards off of 31 rushes on the ground for the Gophers.

The Gophers will be away from home next week to take on Indiana. Game time is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
