COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team is off to an 0-2 start in Big Ten play after falling to the #12 Maryland Terrapins 70-58 Saturday.

The Gophers stuck with the Terps at first - trailing by only three points at halftime, but then sputtered the rest of the way to lose by 12.

Minnesota got good games from forward Mo Walker who scored 20 points and nabbed 10 rebounds, and from guard Carlos Morris who scored 18 points.

But the Gophers were absolutely abysmal from beyond the arc, hitting only 3-22 three point attempts good for a 13.6 percentage.

Three Terrapins scored in double-digits, led by guard Melo Trimble's 20 to give #12 Maryland a win in their Big Ten home opener.

The loss drops the Gophers to 11-4 overall on the season and they will try to notch their first Big Ten victory against #20 Ohio State at The Barn on Tuesday.
