The Gopher men's basketball team lost 86-70 in the Championship game of the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida Sunday night.  The more devastating loss is the injury to leading scorer and rebounded Trevor Mbakwe.  Mbakwe suffered a severe knee injury early in the 2nd half while positioning himself for a rebound.  He needed assistance to get off the court and was on crutches on the bench.  He'll get an MRI on the knee today to determine the severity of the injury.

Austin Hollins led the Gophers Sunday night with 14 points and Julian Welch added 12 points.  Minnesota committed 21 turnovers and falls to 6-1 on the season.  The Gophers will host Virginia Tech at 8:15 Wednesday night, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 7:45.  The game is part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
