The Gopher Football team won their season opener 30-27 in 3 overtimes at UNLV Thursday night.  Jordan Wettstein made a 32-yard field goal in the 3rd overtime to win the game.  Marquis Gray threw for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 68 yards.  Gray missed on some possible touchdown passes earlier in the game and threw for 1 interception that set up UNLV's first field goal.

A.J. Barker had 3 catches for 101 yards and freshman Andre McDonald had just 1 catch for 7 yards.  Donnell Kirkwood led the Gophers with 81 yards rushing in 13 carries while James Gillum ran for 51 yards and a touchdown for Minnesota.

The Gophers outgained the Runnin' Rebels 478 yards to 275.  Minnesota will play New Hampshire in their home opener on September 8 at 11am, pregame on AM 1390-the Fan at 10am.
