The Minnesota Golden Gopher football team earned a 30-27 win Thursday night at TCF Bank Stadium in the opening game of the 2016 season. The Gophers scored 13 fourth quarter points, and kept the Beavers off the board in the final quarter, to earn the win.

Gophers running back Rodney Smith led the offense with 25 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Mitch Leidner scored a pair of rushing touchdowns.

The Gophers host Indiana State on Saturday, September 10th. The game can be heard on AM 1390 KXSS with pregame coverage beginning at 2 p.m.
