Little Falls native Ben Hanowski played for the Flames of the NHL last season after signing his first pro contract following a Frozen Four appearance with St. Cloud State in April. He notched his first career goal in Calgary against his hometown Minnesota Wild.

Hanowski is getting some seasoning this year in Abbotsford, the top minor league affiliate of the Flames. In 12 games so far this season, the 6'2" power forward has notched four goals and four assists.

In the Heat's season-opening win at Lake Erie on October 4th Hanowski scored the eventual game-winning goal on a power play in the second period, then added an empty net goal to seal the 5-2 win.

Hanowski struck again on October 11th with an even strength goal in the third period of Abbotsford's 3-2 overtime win over Milwaukee. His fourth goal of the season came a week later at Oklahoma City in a 4-3 loss.
