St. Cloud Cathedral's season ended at Champlin Ice Forum Friday night with a loss to Hermantown in a section final.

The Crusaders outshot Hermantown on Friday night but couldn't get the bounces in their favor in a 4-1 loss at Champlin Ice Forum. Cathedral finishes the season with a record of 20-8.

Both goaltenders, Joshua Robak of Cathedral and the Hawks' Adam Smith, were sharp early in stopping a few grade-A scoring chances for both sides.

Bo Gronseth started the scoring for the Hawks at 9:40 of the first period to make the score 1-0, a score that would stand after the first period. Gronseth tiptoed around a pair of defenders and lifted a backhand top-shelf past Robak.

Shots were even in the opening frame at nine apiece.

Gronseth struck again at 7:59 of the second period, and the Hawks went up 3-0 on a Wasbotten goal just :33 later. Shots on goal through two periods were 18-16 in favor of CHS.

Cathedral got on the board with just under three minutes left in the third period with a Dan Bailey goal, but the Hawks answered with an empty-netter with 1:31 left to seal the 4-1 win for Hermantown.
