95th ANNUAL STATE AMATEUR TOURNAMENT 2018

REGION 2B TEAMS (LAKEWOOD TEAMS)

DUNDAS DUKES       8       COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 5

The Dukes of the Classic Cannon Valley League and Section 1B defeated the Springers of the Lakewood League, backed by some timely hits, Springers miscues and a strong relief pitching performance. The Dukes John McCaustlin started on the mound, he threw two Innings, he gave up four hits, issued two walks, surrendered three runs and he recorded two strikeouts. The Dukes, Charlie Rudd, a former minor league had the Springers off balanced, he threw seven innings in relief to earn the win. He gave eight hits, issued one walk, surrendered two runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Haydn Lanoue went 1-for-4 with two big RBIs and he earned a walk and Steve Loos went 1-for-3 with a RBI and he earned a walk. Tyler Jones went 2-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Wilson Battle went 2-for-4 and he scored a run and Jon Bishop went 1-for-3 with a RBI and he was hit by a pitch. Carson Jones went 1-for-5 and he scored a run and Mike Ludwig went 1-for-4 and he earned a walk. Patrick Wadzinski had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run, Josh Small had a sacrifice bunt, he was hit by a pitch and he scored two runs and Drew Sathrum earned a walk.

The Springers, Zach Femrite started on the mound, he threw seven innings, he gave up seven hits and he issued four walks,  surrendered three runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Justin Thompson thew one inning in relief, he gave up one hit and he recorded two strikeouts. Joey Stock, threw the final inning in relief, he gave up two hits, surrendered two runs, issued one walk and he recorded one strikeout. Brain Hansen went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Garrett Fuchs went 1-for-3 with a RBI and he earned two walks and Zach Femrite went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Jordan Barth went 3-for-5 with a double. Billy Huls went 2-for-2 and Jeron Terres went 1-for-5 for a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Joe Dempsey went 1-for-3 with a double, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Alex Jungels went 1-for-2 and he scored a run and Eric Loxtercamp scored a run.

CHANHASSEN RED BIRDS   4   SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES        0

 

The Red Birds of the River Valley East and Section 3B defeated the Cyclones from the Lakewood League and Section 2B. However the Red Birds didn’t have any earned runs, they did hand on the the big win. The Red Birds, Logan Spitzack started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up five hits, issued eight walks and he recorded twelve strikeouts. Brandon Arnold went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Riley Johnson went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and a stolen base. Matt Smith with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned a walk and Garrett Fisher went 1-for-3, he earned a walk, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Shawn Riesgraf went 1-for-4, Justin Anderson earned a walk and he scored a run, Derek Smith scored a run and he had a stolen base and Kyle Fischer scored a run.

The Cyclones, Jason Hoppe started on the mound, he threw eight innings, he gave up just five hits, issued three walks, surrendered four runs and he recorded six strikeouts. He gave up an unearned run in the fifth inning. David Kroger threw the final inning in relief, he recorded one strikeout. Jason Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a double and David Kroger went 1-for-3 with a double and he earned a walk. Luis Massa went 1-for-3 with a double and he earned a pair of walks and Bjorn Hanson went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice bunt. Paul Schlangen went 1-for-4 and he earned a walk and Scott Lochner earned a pair of walks. Tom Wippler and Matt Meyer both earned walks.

NORTHFIELD KNIGHTS     4       MOORHEAD BREWERS    2

The Knights of the Classic Cannon Valley and Section 1B defeated their foe the Brewers from the Arrow West and Section 2B in a pitching dual. The Knights, Jake Mathison started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He scattered eight hits, issued two walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded seven strikeouts. Scott Benjamin went 2-for-4 with a double for two big RBIs and Eric Pittman went 3-for-4 and he was hit by a pitch. Tom McDonald has a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Aldon Severson had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Tim Maus went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and Jake Mathison went 1-for-4 with a double and he scored a run. Nick Burnhauser went 1-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Thomas Meland went 1-for-4.

The Brewers, Tanner Dahl started on the mound, he threw 7 2/3 innings, he gave up nine hits, issued one walk, surrendered four runs and he recorded six strikeouts. Kyle Kingsley threw 1/3 of an inning in relief, he gave up one hit. Chris Clemenson went 2-for-4 with a home run and Denver Blinn went 3-for-4 with a double. Derek Dormanen went 1-for-4 and Spencer Flaten went 1-for-3 and he scored a run. Joe Hallock went 1-for-4, Mike Peschel earned a pair of walks and Tanner Adam had a sacrifice fly for a RBI.

REGION 11C (CENTRAL VALLEY/SAUK VALLEY LEAGUES)

SARTELL MUSKIES  4       ADA “ATHLETICS”   0

The Muskies of the Sauk Valley League and Region 13C defeated their foe the Athletics from the Red River Amateur Base Ball League and Region 10C, backed by ten hits and an excellent pitching performance. The Muskies veteran lefty, David Deminsky, started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He scattered seven hits, issued one walk and he recorded sixteen strikeouts. Brain Schellinger went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Jake Sweeter went 2-for-4 with a RBI. Jace Otto Went 1-for-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Tim Burns went 1-for-4 with a RBI. Ethan Carlson went 1-for-3, he earned a walk, a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Andrew Deters went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and he scored a run and Cody Partch went 1-for-3 and he earned a walk.

The Athletics, Tyler Anderson started on the mound, he threw 7 2/3 innings, he gave up ten hits, issued two walks, surrendered four runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Ethan Opsahl threw 1 1/3 innings in relief, he recorded a pair of strikeouts. Brett Fetting and Matt Pietsch both went 2-for-4 and Blake Fetting, Ethan Opsahl and Josh Casavan all went 1-for-4 for the Athletics.

KIMBALL EXPRESS   5      BELLE PLAINE TIGERS     2

The Express of the Central Valley League and Region 11C defeated the Tigers of the River Valley League and Region 6C. This was backed by nine timely hits and a great pitching performance by the Express. The Express, Ben Johnson started on the mound, he threw eight innings to earn the win. He scattered five hits, issued two walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded thirteen strikeouts. Zak Wallner threw the final inning in relief to earn a save, he recorded two strikeouts. The Express were trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning, when they put up five big runs, for the come from behind win.  Scott Marquardt went 1-for-3 with two big RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Adam Beyer went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Brooks Marquardt went 1-for-2 with a RBI and he scored a run. Jordan Joseph went 1-for-4 with a RBI and Austin Ruehle went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Ben Johnson went 1-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Brian Marquardt went 1-for-4 and Kyle Winter went 1-for-4 and he scored a run.

The Tigers, Wes Sarsland started on the mound, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up six hits, issued two walks, surrendered three runs and he recored seven strikeouts. Nate Herman threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up three hits, surrendered two runs and he recorded one strikeout. Derek Dahllke went 1-for-4 with a double for a RBI and Pat Schultz went 1-for-4 with a RBI. Aiden Ladd went 2-for-3 and he earned a walk and Matt Schultz went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Brody Curtiss earned a walk, Jared Miller was hit by a pitch and he scored a run.

PLATO BLUE JAYS  1       LUXEMBURG BREWERS 0

 

The Blue Jays  of the Crow River Valley League and Region 7C defeated the Brewers of the Central Valley League and Region 11C in a very good pitchers dual. The only run of the game was scored in the bottom of the 7th inning. The Blue Jays advanced a runner to 2nd base and their pitcher and one of their hitters, Chris Odegaard double off the left center field wall. This came on a pitch after nearly everyone in the park thought he may have been called out on strikeouts. The Blue Jays, Chris Odegaard, started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He gave up seven hits and he recorded eight strikeouts. Chris also led the offense, went 2-for-3 with two doubles for the games only RBI and he earned a walk. Tyler Lang went 1-for-4 with a double and Nolan Lepel went 2-for-4. Dylan McCormick went 1-for-3, Matt Odegaard earned a walk and Ryan Moriarty and Mitchell Pinske were both hit by a pitch and Mitchell Pinske scored the lone run of the game.

 

The Brewers, tall right hander, Reed Pfannenstein, started on the mound, he threw a complete game. He gave up just six hits, issued two walks, surrendered one run and he recorded nine strikeouts. Reed threw an awesome ball game, with just no luck on his side to be able to pull this one out for the Brewers. The Brewers actually led of the 9th inning with a ball of the wall and he was thrown out at third base. This followed by two more hits, so the Brewers definitely had a shot, but fell just short, to a very good team. Sam Iten went 2-for-4 with a double and Logan Aleshire went 2-for-4. Derrick Orth went 1-for-4 with a stolen base, Chase Aleshire went 1-for-4 and Austin Klaverkamp went 1-for-4. It was another great season by the Brewers, this writer for one is looking ahead to yet another great season, next year.

REGION 15C (STEARNS COUNTY TEAMS)

RAYMOND ROCKETS        6                 RICHMOND ROYALS                   2

The Rockets of the Corn Belt League and Region 4C defeated the Royals of the Stearns County League and Region 15C. The Rockets were actually out hit by the Royals, three big runs they put up in the 9th inning, sealed it for the Rockets. The Rockets, lefty Alex Lothammer started on the mound, he threw six innings, he gave up four hits, issued four walks and he recorded eight strikeouts. Cole Christianson threw two innings in relief, he gave up three hits, issued one walk and he recorded one strikeout. Colin Richards threw the final inning in relief, he gave up three hits and he recorded three strikeouts. Tyler Steen had a good game, he went 3-for-5 with a double for three big RBIs, a stolen base and he scored a run. Jordan Smith went 2-for-4 with a RBI and he earned a walk and Mike Jeseritz went 1-for-3, he earned a pair of walks and he scored three runs. Jose Rosario earned a  pair of walks and he scored two runs, John Sawatsky earned a walk and Eric Hulterstrum was hit by a pitch. Brett Swanson and Joe Schlegel both had sacrifice bunts.

The Royals, D. J. Schleicher started on the mound, he threw four innings, he gave up four hits, issued two walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Eli Emerson, threw two innings in relief, he gave up two hits, issued one walk, surrendered one run and he recorded one strikeout. Ben Schroeder a draftee from St. Martin, threw three innings in relief, he gave two hits, issued four walks, surrendered three runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Cole Schmitz went 2-for-5 with a RBI and Dan Hanson went 2-for-5 with a RBI. Adam Backes went 2-for-3, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run and Alex Budde went 1-for-5. Connor Dols went 1-for-4 and he earned a walk and Andy Hadley went 1-for-3 and he earned a walk.
