Cathedral Graduate Nate Schmidt Signs With Washington

Former St. Cloud Cathedral standout defenseman Nate Schmidt has signed a pro contract with the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.

The contract is a two-year entry level contract. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

Schmidt leaves the Gophers after a junior season in which he scored nine goals and registered 23 assists. He ends his three year U of M career with 74 points including 12 goals.
