It was a very uncharacteristic weekend for the Huskies. Maybe it was due to the first road series of the season or playing a ticked-off Denver squad that collapsed in both games against Western Michigan, but Denver was much more aggressive all weekend and the Huskies were unable to adapt.

The trip to Denver is the first time this season the Huskies will travel outside the state of Minnesota. It’s a big reason why the Huskies are undefeated and one that is a little understated.

During the last 12 years, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center has been like a scene out of a scary movie. However, the victim has switched as of recently.

Nothing compares to opening weekend. The exhibition game can give you a taste, but opening weekend is where it finally boils over. Shuttle buses will be lined up on 4th Avenue, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center will be filled with diehard fans and the Dogg Pound will be banging on the glass in anticipation.

The box score doesn’t really indicate how close this game actually was. On a quick glance, box scores like this can imply Minnesota State dominated the game, but just a few breakdowns the Huskies were able to cash in on.

Much like a Ryu vs Ryu match in Street Fighter II, these teams know each other and are built the same. The winner will be the team who brings the most intensity.

The Huskies were able to convert on many chances and showed a lot of chemistry on odd-man rushes. Passing was overall crisp and everything was done with pace. Most importantly: No one got injured.
