The Grand Forks Herald is reporting that St. Cloud State and Western Michigan will be added to the newly formed National Collegiate Hockey Conference by the end of the week. The newly formed NCHC consists of North Dakota, Minnesota-Duluth, Colorado College, Denver, Nebraska-Omaha, and Miami-Ohio. This conference will begin play in 2013-2014.
SCSU Football Loses At Winona State
The St. Cloud State Football team suffered their first loss of the year 29-16 at Winona State Saturday night. SCSU led 16-12 at halftime and were outscored by Winona State 17-0 in the 2nd half. Phil Klaphake threw for 205 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for a team-best 77 yards. Michael Walker led the Huskies with 52 yards receiving on 5 catches with a touchdown.

The Twins lost 10-4 to Cleveland Saturday afternoon to extend their losing streak to 7 games. Carlos Santana hit his 25th homerun of the season for the Indians. The St. John's Football team defeated Concordia-Moorhead 28-21 in overtime Saturday afternoon in Moorhead. Brent Graboski caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from John Ries in overtime to win the game. St. John's led 21-10 at halftime before Concordia made their comeback. John Ries threw for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns and Nick Schneider ran for 95 yards for the Johnnies. Graboski led the Johnnies with 6 catches for 59 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Gopher football team defeated Miami-Ohio 29-23 Saturday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium. The win gives new head coach Jerry Kill his first win with the Gophers. He suffered a seizure last Saturday near the end of the game in the loss to New Mexico State. Marguis Gray threw for 163 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 171 yards to lead the Gophers. Donnell Kirkland ran for 55 yards and a touchdown and Malcolm Moulton had 4 catches for 72 yards.

The Tigers edged the Twins 3-2 Saturday afternoon in Detroit. Brandon Inge hit a solo walkoff homerun against Glen Perkins to win the game in the 9th. Joe Mauer was 2-3 including hitting his 3rd homerun of the season. Joe Benson added his first 2 major league hits. Perkins took the loss in relief. Anthony Swarzak threw 6 innings with 2 earned runs allowed but didn't figure in the final decision.

John Ries threw for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Johnnies and Connor Bruns was 6-11 passing for 60 yards for St. John's. Sam Pederson and Nick Schneider each had a touchdown reception for the Johnnies.
