The Minnesota Wild announced today they will not be re-signing 37-year old veteran Mikko Koivu. Koivu has spent his entire 15-year NHL career with the Wild. He is the Wild all-time leader in points, assists and games played. He is 2nd all-time in goals.

The Twins won the opening game of the doubleheader in St. Louis 7-3 against the Cardinals before losing the night cap 6-4. In Game 1 Jose Berrios threw 5 innings with 3 earned runs allowed and 8 strikeouts to get the win and improve to 4-3. Jose Donaldson hit a 3-run home run, Miguel Sano added a 2-run shot and Nelson Cruz hit a solo home run.

Michael Pineda started the game and threw 7 innings with 2 earned runs allowed with 8 strikeouts to get the win and improve to 1-0.

ST. CLOUD - The Rox needed a win in their seasons finale game or a Mankato loss to clinch the Northwoods League's Minnesota-Iowa pod championship on Thursday night. Unfortunately for St. Cloud, neither one of those happened as Mankato took care of business and St. Cloud fell to Willmar 9-3 at Joe Faber Field to end their season.

WILLMAR - The Willmar Stingers were able to load the bases in the 9th inning, but closer Blake Stelzer forced a game ending 4-6-3 double play and the St. Cloud Rox defeated the Stingers 4-3. Starting pitcher Luke Albright was the story of the game for St. Cloud after a terrific performance on the mound. The right hander pitched 5 innings, giving up 2 runs and was one strikeout shy of tying the team record for a single game, finishing with 12 K's.

Justin Kelly pitched great for the Rox on Tuesday night, but suffered a tough luck loss in Mankato as St. Cloud lost to the Moon Dogs 1-0. Kelly allowed just the single run in 6 innings of work. Trevor Koenig also pitched well, shutting down the Moon Dogs over 2 innings.

Luke Roskam's squeeze bunt gave the Rox a 1-0 lead and they were able to add an insurance run an inning later after a wild pitch.
