The Washington Capitals have re-signed former Cathedral standout Nate Schmidt to a two-year contract. Schmidt's one-way contract is worth a total of $1.625 million over the two seasons.

Schmidt, 23, charted four points in39 games last season with the Capitals. In 68 career games he has scored ten points (three goals and seven assists). The former Gopher also played 19 games with Hersey (AHL) last season where he charted 32 points (nine goals and 23 assists) in 40 games.
