Another Good Offensive Showing Nullified By Poor Pitching

MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins pitchers gave up 17 hits to Detroit as Minnesota dropped the second game of a double header 8-6 last night.

After outscoring the Tigers 32-10 in the first two games of the series, the Twins looked to be on the right track - posting four runs in the first three innings.

Rookie starter Trevor May could not hold a 4-2 lead as he gave up three runs in his final 1 1/3 innings.

Jared Burton came on but failed to provide much relief, giving up two more runs in the seventh.

The Twins were able to tack on runs in the seventh and ninth but it was not enough as the Tigers took the third game of the series 8-6.

The Twins (58-71) send Kyle Gibson to the mound today for a 1:00 p.m. scheduled start.
