The Twins scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning but came up short in their comeback attempt and fall to the L.A. Angels 6-5 Sunday afternoon at Target Field. Denard Span and Justin Morneau each singled a run in in the 9th inning but Michael Cuddyer flew out to centerfield to end the game. Span and Morneau each had 3 hits and Morneau drove in 2 runs for Minnesota. Carl Pavano started the game and threw 8 innings with 10 hits and 4 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 2-5. The Twins committed 2 errors in the game, 1 from Danny Valencia and 1 from Trevor Plouffe. Minnesota is 17-34 and will begin a 3-game series at Detroit today at 12:05, pregame on WJON at 11:35. Righthander Nick Blackburn (4-4) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Brad Penny (4-4) toes the rubber for the Tigers.
