Angels, Santana Beat Twins 5-1
The Twins lost 5-1 at Anaheim to the Angels Tuesday night in the first game of the 3-game series. The loss is the 3rd straight for the Twins. Michael Cuddyer and Jason Kubel were each 2-4 and Jim Thome was 1-4 with 1 RBI. Denard Span was 0-3 with a walk and a stolen base in his return to the lineup. Brian Duensing threw 6 innings with 8 hits and 5 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 8-9. Ervin Santana threw all 9 innings with 1 earned run allowed to get the win.
The Twins are 50-59 and is 8 games back of Detroit for first place in the American League Central. Minnesota will play at Anaheim against the Angels again tonight at 9:05, pregame on WJON at 8:35. Righthander Scott Baker (8-6) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Joel Pineiro (5-5) toes the rubber for the Angels.
