Alexandria Scores Last Second Goal To Stop Apollo Streak [VIDEO]
The Alexandria Cardinals stopped the Apollo Eagles winning streak at 11 games, while increasing their own streak to 13 in a 2-1 win at the MAC on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals broke a 1-1 tie with a Chase Nielson goal with under a second left in the game to earn the win. Although Apollo head coach Pete Matanich protested that time had run out, video appears to show the goal cross the line before the green light indicating time had run out was activated.
The Eagles' (12-3-2, 7-2-1 CLC) lone goal was scored by Skyler Rieland in the loss. Nielson had a pair of goals in the win for Alexandria (15-0-1, 10-0-1 CLC).
