#6 St. Cloud Cathedral scored two first-period goals and never looked back in a 5-1 win over the #12-ranked Princeton Tigers at the MAC in St Cloud.

Matt Fritz got the Crusaders on the board at 11:43 with an unassisted goal on a loose puck in front of Princeton Tigers netminder Max Mattson. The goal was the sophomore's fourth of the season.

Cathedral went up 2-0 on a Mitchell Fritz goal at 13:17 of the first period. Fritz's nineteenth goal of the season was assisted by Peter Spethmann and Cole Wensmann.

The Crusaders outshot the Tigers 13-6 in a penalty-free first period that ended with Cathedral up 2-0.

Cathedral junior Will Hammer scored his nineteenth goal of the season on a power play goal halfway through the second period with assists credited to Austin Swingle and Austin Poganski making the score 3-0.

The Crusaders outshot Princeton 15-4 in the second period and were leading the category 28-10 after two.

The Tigers finally got on the board just seconds after their first power play expired when Dan Muench scored his team-leading 23rd goal of the season with assists credited to Cam Paulson and Collin Buness.

However, just :18 later, Spethmann beat Tigers goalie Mattson for his seventh goal of the season with assists on the play given to Matt Fritz and Trevor Cornelius.

It only took 25 seconds for Cathedral to strike again to take a four-goal lead. Hammer found Poganski in the slot with a pass from the half-wall and the junior slammed home his 21st goal of the season.

Cathedral outshot Princeton 11-7 in the third period and 39-17 overall. The Crusaders improved to 16-6 overall and 2-1 in Granite Ridge play. The Tigers fell to 16-5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
